Fantasy TDs, Week 2, Recap

For it already being Sunday night of week three of the NFL season I have decided I’m going to just kinda recap the first three weeks so we can get on pace for the upcoming weeks. There has been a lot of wild stories through just three weeks. Just a heads up too my readers I personally prefer PPR (Point Per Reception) leagues so my stats will be adjusted accordingly. We saw top 10 pick Adrian Peterson go on the IR, Brandin Cooks and Drew Brees light up the Oakland defense, and Stefan Diggs lead all receivers in receiving through two weeks with Shaun Hill and Sam Bradford as his QB. With so much unpredictable performances happening early with receivers leading the charge while running backs and tight ends have been relatively quiet.

First I’m going to talk about the the top QB through the first two weeks. I factor in their overall score and production along with the players value. So if a lower drafted player is having his way with the league they may rank higher than a typical star you would expect.

For QB I am going with Matthew Stafford of the Detroit Lions. Through the first three weeks Stafford has thrown for 985 yards and 7 touchdowns along with just two interceptions. he is averaging 24 points per game and just slinging it all over the place since Detroit lacks a threatening run game. Stafford is only owned in 56.2% of leagues (nfl.com). Stafford was drafted last in my 10 man league, 150th overall and was soon released. Im kicking myself for not picking him because I have a lot of QB problems. On top of tha
t Stafford plays the Bears, Rams, Texans and Redskins in four of the next five weeks.

The tricky running back position has been a tough one to judge so far but a few players have completely out played their expectations still. The player I’m going with is Demarco Murray having a big bounce back year so far following the disaster in Philadelphia. He has rushed for 245 yards and a score, a solid 82 yards per contest. Thats not even the best part, Murray has 17 catches and 132 yards through the air to go with. In PPR leagues thats what is helping him be so successful. Getting an average of about 24 points per game from a RB that went 62nd in my draft is a steal. With the Titans oimg_9530ffense being very stagnant i don’t see a reason murray will slow down. If you look ahead for Murray his schedule is easy money with the Texans, Dolphins, Browns, Colts and Jaguars all due up next.

The wide receiver position, arguably the deepest position in fantasy. WR’s this year are killing it all over the league putting up 100 yard games everywhere. I am going with one of my favorite players in the league (and on my team so bias may play a role) Jarvis Land
ry. Landry has been big for me just through three games as he is a machine cranking out receptions. Easily Ryan Tannehill’s favorite target and always a threat to make a big play. Landry has 314 yards already on 24 catches! In standard PPR leagues he is averaging  about 21 points per game. The only downside has been he only has one TD thus far, but besides that he is a reliable target that will catch five to seven balls a game and give you north of 80 yards no doubt.

No Rob Gronkowski and the tight end position has been a disappointment this year. I had high hopes on players like Coby Fleener and Travis Kelce but they haven’t quite lived up to the expectations. So, it leaves me to go with Jordan Reed froimg_9529m the Washington Redskins. Reed has supreme talent and athleticism but his issue has been staying healthy. So far he has been fine and has 16 catches and 190 yards to go with it.
Reed is yet to find the end zone and in his defense Kirk Cousins and the Redskin offense has been struggling around the red zone. Once Cousins finds his comfort zone and realizes how reliable Reed is he’ll target him more down there. Reed is averaging a modest 12PPG, but with the way the tight end play has been that isn’t terrible for someone who most likely was drafted as a middle tier tight end.

That will cap off my first three weeks top player for QB, RB, and WR recap. Remember any questions you have feel free to leave a comment below or ask me on my personal twitter @Bsnow97. Look forward to getting on track next week talking performers of the week and sleepers.
